Why I Became an AACC Certified ADHD Coach
After a year of hard work and training, I am very proud to announce my official status as an AACC Certified ADHD Coach! Find out what this means for you, why I took this path, and where the journey goes from here.
After a full year of intensive training, mentorship, and real-world coaching experience, I’m very excited to have officially been awarded my ADDCA Associate Certified Coach (AACC) certification.
If you’ve been following my journey, you’ll know how much this means to me.
But if you’re new to my ADHD podcast and my ADHD coaching journey, let me explain why this is such a big deal for anyone looking for an ADHD Coach who’s properly trained, deeply committed, and genuinely gets it.
Earning this badge isn’t just a massive personal achievement for me. I’m equally as excited about how it will empower me to do more for the children and families that I work with, and how it’ll make things better.
What is an AACC Certified ADHD Coach?
In short, an ADHD coach with the AACC certification is fully equipped to support clients with ADHD in meaningful, evidence-based ways. It shows they’ve studied the science and the theory behind the neurodiversity – and have practical, hands-on experience helping people thrive.
“The AACC designation is awarded to coaches who have met the certification requirements of ADDCA’s Basic ADHD & Life Coach Training Certification Program, and demonstrated their ADHD coaching capabilities at the first level of coach certification set by the International Coach Federation (ICF) and the Professional Association for ADHD Coaches (PAAC).” - ADDCA
The AACC credential is one of the most respected certifications in ADHD coaching. It’s not something you can just sign up for, though – and while you do pay for the course, the minimum pass mark is 80% (higher than most post-graduate courses).
It takes over 90 hours of accredited training, and at least 50 hours of ADHD coaching experience to even qualify as eligible. As well as working through the course in your own time, you’ve got to attend hours of classes each week, and demonstrate mentorship.
ADDCA’s comprehensive training covers everything from ADHD traits and neuroscience, to coaching strategies tailored for different brains. I received mentorship and evaluation from world-leading ADHD coaching professionals, and committed to ongoing learning and ethics standards.
But this isn’t the end of the road, because ADHD coaching isn’t a one-and-done skill. It always evolves, and so will I as my career progresses.
This is the first, big step.
Getting my AACC means that I’ve been tested, observed, and guided by the best in the field – and I’m so proud to have met the high bar they set.
Why This Matters for You
If you’ve ever looked for an ADHD coach, you might have noticed that anyone can call themselves a “coach”. There’s no universal regulation in the industry.
That’s why credentials like the AACC are so important. They help you separate the well-intentioned from the well-trained. AACC certified ADHD coaches have put in the work to not only understand ADHD, but to prove that they understand.
Here’s what my AACC certification brings to the table for my clients:
A deep, science-backed understanding of ADHD
A structured, client-proven approach
Accountability to high standards
In addition to my work on the All Aboard ADHD podcast, talking to the best and brightest in the world of neurodiversity – I’ve now had the chance to truly distil all of this diverse knowledge into a structured, working platform for my clients.
I’ve supercharged my superpower – and I want to help more people do the same.
What’s Next? More Learning
While I’m celebrating this milestone, I’m not taking any breaks.
ADHD doesn’t just affect individuals; it impacts relationships, households, and daily life in big ways. Having the right support can make all the difference.
That’s why I'm currently continuing my training with ADDCA, on their Fundamentals of ADHD Coaching for Families – which I will finish at the end of this year. It’s teaching me even more about how to support parents, partners, and families navigating ADHD together.
It’s fascinating, and I can’t wait to share what I’m learning over on Instagram, and on the podcast. By the end of the year, I’ll have even more tools to help families create supportive, understanding environments, where everyone can flourish.
A Big Thank You
This certification isn’t just mine – it belongs to every client who’s trusted me with their struggles and successes, every mentor who’s pushed me to grow, and every fellow coach who’s shared wisdom along the way.
It belongs to my brilliant, unstoppable, incredible children – the ones who first started me on this quest.
And to you, reading this – whether you’ve worked with me or not – thank you for being part of my All Aboard ADHD community. I’m so grateful.
